Where to start… When I was asked to do this review I figured, sure I like alittle erotica. That is the category of the book.
Even though it is only a novelett, it did pack a strange punch. The premise of the book is a connection to a piece of artwork. A sculpture to be exact.
Many people say they can feel a connection with certain art, almost like it is alive, expressing the feelings and emotions the artist put into it.
This happened to Isabella. Isabella for all intensive purposes is a normal healthy woman, except that sex with her boyfriend just doesn’t do it for her anymore. No way, no how!
As Isabella meets her friend Ava at the gallery she works for, she is immediately captivated by an abstract peice that has come in. She after so long finds herself aroused in a way she’s never been.
(So please bear with me I am trying to keep this review clean)
Personally, I think she got hit by the crazy stick. She begins to break into the gallery and have an affair with the sculpture. In her mind, the sculpture comes alive, it wants her and calls to her, it feels and even understands her. (Told you cookoo)
Eventually all “good” things come to an end, when her boyfriend busts her coming home. She decides to be honest and tell her Art Professor boyfriend the truth thinking he will understand.
He’s pissed and I think agrees her brain left her body. He insists she take him to the sculpture. When they arrive, in his anger he begins to have relations with the sculpture. Isabella is appalled. He is desecrating something in her eyes that is special.
Something changes then, it’s as if the professor has been drawn into the sculptures allure. Isabella is disgusted to see HER sculpture being treated like that. Almost as if the sculpture feels her pain it begins to shake and topple to the ground, crushing the poor professor.
After the police complete most of their investigation, Isabella is drawn back. She must see the sculpture one last time. When she arrives, security has been tightened, but it doesn’t stop her.
She must be with her sculpture. In full view of security cameras he proceeds to have the time of her life. Honestly, was the outcome really worth the action.
Sooooo…..honestly this book is alittle on the strange side for me. I mean besides having sex with a sculpture. Seriously it was a smooth metal, not even an ounce in a normal mind could see to use it for pleasure.
All in all there were a few grammatical and editorial mishaps but for an off beat strange erotica, it wasn’t half bad.
I do think just a few small changes; descriptions, maybe a small addition to the sculpture, also maybe explain Isabella and her feelings and desires a bit more and you would have something great. You have a good idea, and a great start you jut need to tie it up nice and pretty it to the bow.
Until you make the edits I rank it 2* but with just a touch more it could be a 4*
